11,000 Bags Of Heroin, Coke: Trio Busted Dealing From Springfield Apartment, Police Say

Three men were arrested with a large amount of heroin and cocaine on Thursday, Feb. 1, following a raid on an apartment in Springfield.

Helpy Montero-Martinez, age 49, Justin Ramos, 23, and Luis Valentin, 49, all of Springfield, were busted as part of the sting, Springfield police said. 

Detectives were watching the apartment at 150 White Street as a potential drug den and had identified Martinez and Ramos as potential suspects. 

Officers were watching the apartment Thursday morning and followed Martinez and Ramos as they drove to Hancock Street to meet Valentine, who got into the car and hopped out a few moments later with Ramos. 

Police quickly arrested the duo and found 100 bags of heroin and cash, police said. 

Detectives moved in on Martinez when he got back to the apartment, but he sprinted to the third-floor unit, ignoring police commands, authorities said. But officers were faster, and they arrested him before he could get back inside. 

Martinez dropped 160 bags of heroin and nine bags of crack cocaine as he ran, police said. 

Detectives seized more than 11,000 bags of heroin, more than 345 grams of cocaine (191.4 grams of powder cocaine & 153.7 grams of crack), and more than $1600 in cash, authorities said. 

Martinez is charged with:

  • Trafficking Cocaine 200 Grams or More
  • Trafficking Heroin 200 Grams or More
  • Distribution of a Class A Drug
  • Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug (Two Counts)
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug (Two Counts)
  • Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Resisting Arrest

Ramos is charged with:

  • Trafficking Cocaine 200 Grams or More
  • Trafficking Heroin 200 Grams or More
  • Distribution of a Class A Drug
  • Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug (Two Counts)
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug (Two Counts)

Valentin is charged with:

  • Possession of a Class A Drug
